Feed and premix oxidation occurs when fats and nutrients react with oxygen, leading to nutrient loss and reduced feed quality. Such degradation can negatively impact animal performance. Antioxidants are commonly added to the feed or premix to prevent nutrient oxidation and protect the nutritional value of the feed. The use of antioxidants is key to maintaining feed quality and nutrient value. They help ensure optimal animal performance and well-being.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

OxyBan®SE is an antioxidant blend combining free radical scavengers (BHA, BHT, and propyl gallate) and a mineral chelator (citric acid). BHT, BHA, and propyl gallate donate hydrogen to neutralize lipid radicals and break oxidation chains, while citric acid binds metal ions to prevent oxidation initiation. This dual mechanism protects lipids, preserves nutrients, and extends feed stability.

Ethoxyquin has faced increasing regulatory scrutiny due to safety concerns, including potential carcinogenicity and impurities. In 2022, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) led to its non-renewal in the EU. While the FDA has not fully banned ethoxyquin, it has imposed limits and requested additional safety data. OxyBan®SE therefore excludes ethoxyquin, aligning with evolving global safety standards.
